Help pricing these stands please

Post by Maltbiemetalworks »

Hey Guys!
So my husband and I are fairly new to the plasma spider community and we have just received one of our first jobs to cut out these stands. The client would be providing the 3/8 metal. Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance :)

So here's the questions most would need answered before giving an estimate to a customer:

1. Are you expected to reverse engineer this design or do you have electronic drawings.

I can see at least 3 major fabrication steps required after you cut the pieces so...

2. Are you just cutting the pieces or are you expected to fabricate them up to a finished piece or something in between?

Some members here have the skills and capabilities to do some or all of these steps and their pricing will vary wildly if you don't answer these questions first.

Oops, I told you I am a total newbie! All I would have to do have to reverse engineer the base and 4 fins and some light grinding. No fabrication or paint required. Thanks Guys!

Also need to know the size of the pieces or the total number of cut inches and pierces. Looks like the gussets are thinner than 3/8". Will they be 3/8" or thinner? I realize you have provided some of this info but to get accurate price you need to provide the following info:

1. Number of units the customer wants.
2. Thickness of material.
3. Dimensions of each part and/or total cut inches and pierces for each part.
4. Are you providing bolts?
5. Are you cutting the tubing also?
6. Are you doing the fabricating/finish work or just cutting the parts?

Okay.
1. The customer wants 10 for now but there is opportunity for more.
2. The material will all be 3/8 but he will be providing the material
3.The base is going to be 24x24 with 10 piece points total per plate
4. We are not providing bolt
5. He is having the tubing machines elsewhere
6. Strictly cutting, no fabrication.

Thanks!

You are still not providing detailed enough info to give accurate pricing. I drew up the design as accurately as I could based off of the picture you posted. Based off of what I drew there would be 232 cut inches in the base plate with 10 pierces and 30 inches and 1 pierce for each of the 4 gussets. For 10 units I would be at $79.42 for each base plate and $37.80 for the gussets ($9.45 each x 4) for a total of $117.22 per unit.

Cutting only I would be very happy with €35 per unit.
