Hello fellow Hypertherm users
My HT 1250 has worked great until just recently.
Sometimes it fails to start the arc in the middle of a job.
If I stop the program and go back and try again, it fires and the
program can move on.
When the plasma fails to start the arc, the red error indicator
Is lit on the front. No other warnings. Air pressure seems fine.
I've tried replace all the consumables, checked my ground.
Also clamped directly on the workpiece.
Checked my air filters and water separators. (I also use an air dryer). This have happened the last three times I've been using my cutting table so I need to trouble shoot this behavior.
Any suggestions are welcome

Re: Hypertherm 1250 does not fire
The most common issues that can cause a Powermax1250 to not fire when it is supposed to:
-Incorrect or worn out consumable parts. Check the part numbers with the cut charts in your operators manual.
-Aftermarket parts.....if you are buying non genuine consumable parts this is common, and it is possible to damage the torch.
-Overtightened retaining cap. The cap should ne just snug enough to hold the consumables in place.
-Incorrect inlet air pressure (must be between 90 and 120 psi when air is flowing at the torch.
-Incorrect cut air pressure. Turn amp knob fully CCW to make air flow at torch, adjust regulator until LED's on front panel are satisfied.
-Pitted plunger inside torch making poor contact to electrode. Clean or replace if necessary.
-Moisture, oil in air lines.
-Have you changed the retaining cap (with new) or the swirl ring (with new) recently? These parts wear over time and will affect starting.
-If you are using the nozzle and electrode until they are beyond good quality....and then they start misfiring....often you can clean the end of the electrode with scotchbrite and the inside of the nozzle....and get a few more starts. It is not advisable to use these parts until they fail, indicated by green flame coming out of torch...as this can cause arcing and torch damage.

Re: Hypertherm 1250 does not fire
Thank's for your detaljed answer!
I took my torch apart and cleaned everything, swapped all
consumables again , except for the cap. Seems fine this far.
I use genuine Hypertherm consumables. I switch nozzle after about 100 starts. And the electrode when it starts to look bad (using your guide)
