D2 tool steel
I have someone wanting me to cut some knifes out of D2. Does anyone have any idea how this cuts in comparison to other steel?

Re: D2 tool steel
If you have a Hypertherm plasma it is expected to cut almost identically to regular mild steel. Follow the cut charts exactly. This steel will have a slight softening (yes, the opposite effect of cutting low carbon steel) effect near the edges.....approximately .010" thick. Make sure your blanks are at least this much larger near the cutting edge so you can maintain the correct hardness.

Thank you Jim, that is what I needed to know. I use a PM 65 so I will use the book settings.
