Show Fill Question

Post by jhillgoose »

I have my artwork done, but when I click on "show fill" so I can make sure it is the way I want it or to send a proof to a customer it fills in the whole piece. I am sure there is an easy answer for this. See pics below...

I'm far from the one to give advice on graphics, but it looks to me like you haven't trimmed all the foreground objects out of the background (outside) object.

One other thought, you might try selecting everything and combining it together as one object.

What is probably happening is that the inside objects are not filled, so when you fill the outside, it fills everything and the black outlines of the inside objects just blend in so they are pretty much non-visible. Easy way to fix is to select the entire drawing, fill it with white, then select just the outside area and fill that with black.

If you fill as described above and it does the same thing then what is probably happening is that the black section is actually "above" the others so when you fill it, it covers up the others. To fix this in Corel, select the BLACK section and then use the ctrl+pgdn (Control plus Page Down buttons). This moves the top object to the back (or underneath the other objects).

Ctrl+pgup moves the object above the others.

Hope that helps.

With TMCad, either the paths are not closed, or the make-path is incomplete.

+1 for paths not closed. Show fill is the tool I use to be sure all my paths are connected. The only time I have the issue you report is when the paths are not closed. In some cases you can use the "connect path" function under "arrange" and automatically connect the paths within set parameters, but depending on the file sometimes it's necessary to go in and join the paths manually. One note - on line cuts don't show up with show fill, only closed paths. If you want, post the file, that would let us see exactly what you have.
