That link that muzza provided tells what angle to make the gnomon and where to position the numbers, but how do you know how long to make the gnomon? I think I will build one of these.

The gnomon is in the cut file; no need to make it.

I really want to make one of these, but sort of confused by this statement:

***ALSO--this dial is set at 38.85? N as with the gnomon, so if you want it to keep accurate time for your location, the dial angles and the gnomon have to be set to your latitude.

How do I go about doing this? Like let's say I want it to be 31? N.

Yes, your angles of the dial numbers, relative to 180 degrees, and the angle of the gnomon / are set to your latitude.

Go to: http://www.anycalculator.com/horizontalsundial.htm and enter your latitude in the calculator and it will give you your angles for the hours, and, depending on where you live, deflection of true north as well.

As for the gnomon, if your latitude is 31* N, your gnomon's angle will be 31* to be perpendicular to the earth's axis.

Hopefully this helps, if not p.m me and I can set up your correct sundial to your zip code and really get your dial dialed in.

when I find time I will load it into X6 and see what it does...I dont use CorelDraw for my dxf designing, more for graphic art; my dxf designs are all done in CAD

Schidthead,

I can't believe my luck.

I did a sign for a friend of mine for his house. He said he's also interested in a sundial. Well that left me scratching my head a bit.

I haven't looked at this section of the forum for about 3 weeks and what's the first thing I see when I decide to look again.

Awesome, thanks for your great generosity in sharing such a wonderful piece.

Wow, This is amazing. I am new to this site and really appreciate your work and generosity in supplying the dxf file of the sundial. My wife loves the look of it and this will be my first big project on my plasmacam. Thanks again.
