Importing Mulitple and Moving Drawings

Post by ryno fab »

so i worked up a drawing of the alaska state map. took me a bit. looks good when its cut out. earlier i had imported a moose on a different file name also took a bit of work. i want to put the moose on the ak map. is there any way to put the two files together without having to redraw one of them? the only program i have is the one that pcam came with. no corel draw or anything that picks up dxf files.

Ryno Fab,
In Pcam select your Alaska file, once it's on screen select import,select your moose file,your moose should now be on the same screen as Alaska.Hope this helps,Tim

Correct, but add a cautionary step;

When the Map file is on-sreen, save it as Map&Moose. That will become the current file. Then import the moose. It will appear in green, so be sure to move it away from any overlapping situation before allowing it to become 'unselected'.

Save that file just 'in case...' and begin your changes.

maybe im doing something wrong, but when i try to import something just the bitmaps come up no dxf files. im trying to take an image that i have worked on in the plasmacam cad program and open it on a different page.... ie. i draw a box. save it as ' box'. open a new file and draw a circle save it as ' circle'. now is there a way to open the box file and bring in the circle from the circle file?

Open up the "box" file in P-Cam. Go to file, import and choose .pcm file then choose "circle" the circle will then be on the same page as the "box" file.

When you try to import the second file what happens? There should be a window open and you go to the drop down file and choose .pcm. Then choose the file you want and it should go into the first file.

When you click on import and the window opens showing your files, go down toward the bottom of that window and where it says "Files of Type:" click on the drop down arrow and select "G-Code;All files[*.*]". It should now show you all of the files in that folder regardless of the type. If you still have problems, send me your phone number & I will call you and try to walk you through it.
