Question on pricing

Post by tony506 »

Newbie here,
I was looking at how you guys price your work. Why do you charge for pierce starts etc and not just by the linear each alone?
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the reply and info. I found some pricing apps. I can see that the prices charged are so much per foot at the relevant plate thickness, but what I would like to know is why do you charge the extra for each pierce cut etc on a job?
Thanks

Tony, I kept some records several years ago on my consumable usage. I have a Hypertherm 1250. Best I can tell it was costing around 14 cents per pierce. My software counts the linear inch of cutting plus the number of pierces. I charge 25 cent per pierce.

Thanks Jack,
Thats very helpful. Th plasma cam logs each pierce and amount of cut so that will make it easy to cost.
Thanks again
