Maybe a Good Mod for the 4x4 table?

Post by Joe Jones »

I got to thinking about the pipe cutter, and the 4x4 table, and the mechanics behind setting up the pipe cutter with the gantry tube on a clunky apparatus, etc.

It occurred to me that with a modification of the table FRAME, you can set the 4x4 table up as a combination plasma table / router table AND a pipe cutter / lathe AND a dry table / water table!

I have drawn up a concept design. Now all I need is a 4x4 DHC2 table at a reasonable price, and a spare gantry motor. I don't want to modify the 4x4 I have now, but this design is FAR better than the other one I made some six years ago.

This particular mod would be far MORE difficult to install onto a 510 table, but on a 4x4, I think it would be awesome.

Yes ... another project on the books. :? Maybe it will become a reality this year. Maybe not.

Lots of 4x4 tables out there for sale, but I am still looking for one (or two  ) at a low price, since I do not need the software license or the plasma machine. Just the table.

I have to take these machines home and then go to Georgia to get one more table. When I get home, I have the window people coming to put all new vinyl windows in the house so the project will be delayed for about two weeks. But the first thing I’m going to do is create the grate elevator table, using one of the 4 x 4 tables that I recently purchased. Then it will work on the other projects.
