Parts disappear when importing new part???

Post by Tristar500 »

I've got a sheet partially filled and when I attempt to add an additional part one of the existing parts just vanishes.
???
I can get back to where I started by closing (and not saving) then open the job again.

Tried restarting SheetCam and a reboot of computer.

I'm using the latest version 7.0.21

Notice square part in upper corner is gone when new part is added (new part in lower left corner)

I am fairly sure the red X in the upper left of the screen is an error indicator. That is a older version just loaded today was 7.1.35, if you can hook it to the internet it should update to a newer version which may help.

I guess the "check for update" in SheetCam doesn't work as I tried that too. I'll go to the website and d/l as you suggested.
Thanks!

I am using the full paid version of SheetCam and don't have any problems with the parts disappearing. If you are perhaps using the trial version, maybe that could be causing your problem. As Tom suggested, you may do best to upgrade to the most current version. When I click on the "check for updates" button, it says no updates found - so apparently that button does not work.

The update process is automatic, if the computer is hooked to the internet and you start SheetCam it offers to update at that point, you yes or no then. Like I said yesterday it updated to the new version when I started SheetCam. They are always sending out updates when it is needed. When bugs are found or additions to the service, great company!!

Tom - mine never asks me if I wish to update. Here is what the opening screen looks like.

I am using the full licensed version.
Perhaps uninstall and reinstall it. Otherwise, reach out to Les Newall at SheetCam for help.

I'm using 7.0.21 which is the current stable version. I wasn't having these issues before. They jus started happening yesterday.
Very frustrating to toss out a half full sheet of material because I can't see the parts in SheetCam.

I need to get a better understanding of "rules" in SheetCam. Is there a good tutorial on this?

Thanks all!

Here is a tutorial on path rules, but I don't think that is your problem.

Ok one thing is I use SheetCam TNG Development version or SheetCam I canno tell you how many time it has been updated since I stared bock in 2012.
each update only take about minute and restarts SheetCam when it is done.
You can use either version with your license, just download it and install the license. Development does have a few added tools, don't really think that will help with your problem. To do a work around you can cut each part separately to get them done.

Djreiswig - you may be right. Perhaps he mistakenly clicked on "Import drawing" instead of "New part". That will sometimes have the effect of deleting one of the other parts when the new drawing is imported. The fix is to only "Import drawing" once, then use "New part" to add parts to the existing drawing.
I'm not sure why he as the red "X" indicating an error. If he would hover his mouse pointer over the red "X" - the actual error message should be displayed.
