Best commercial grade plasma cutter?
Have a 4x4 plasma cam and works great for small projects. Business has exploded and looking to buy a commercial grade larger table to keep up with demand. What machines should I look at that could take that kind of constant workload
Thanks

Re: Best commercial grade plasma cutter?
By "commercial grade", are you talking light commercial (air plasma), or full commercial (hi def plasma)?

When I think "Commercial grade," I think $150,000 minimum with a good machine costing significantly more.

Re: Best commercial grade plasma cutter?
We have a Koike Aronson 6x24' Water Table and Hi-def Hypertherm 400XD at work and I don't know exactly what we paid for it but from rumblings I've heard in that $2-300,000 range. That being said, its a great machine, and the plasma cutter itself has required nothing but routine maintainance in the 2.5 years we've had it. Table and gantry have held up good too considering, basically no problems there at all. We cut anything from 16Ga stainless to 2" mild steel with it and it does a nice job!

I guess by commercial I meant light commercial air. Have been looking at the 5x10 arc light max. Any information on that table or something in that range. Have a hypertherm 45xp to run on the table
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Best commercial grade plasma cutter?
I would change the title of your post and you might get more responses. Sounds like what you are looking for is a commercial grade CNC table, not a commercial grade plasma cutter.

Re: Best commercial grade plasma cutter?
I have had an Arclight 6 x 12 table for about 6 months and have been very happy with it. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Re: Best commercial grade plasma cutter?
I would look at the duty cycle of the 45xp as being the limiting factor for commercial use.

Re: Best commercial grade plasma cutter?
Entry level CNC with Plasma is typically for a hobby shop or very light duty commercial operation, expect prices in the $7k to $20k range.
Light Industrial CNC with Plasma is typical for a semi busy small shop, no more than about 5 to 6 shifts per week, expect prices to be in the $20k to $60k range depending on the size of the plasma and cutting bed as well as the quality of the table.
Industrial CNC Plasma tables sell in the range of $60k to well over a million dollars, again depending on size, number of plasma's (up to 4 on a single machine) power levels and accessories (bevel heads, markers, drill, milling heads, oxy fuel, etc.)

So narrowed down to arc light max 5x10 or the Lone Star Spitfire 5x10. Any thoughts

Re: Best commercial grade plasma cutter?
Arclight has a good reputation for equipment and support. Never heard of Lone Star. I have a Bulltear/Starlab 6x12, and I love it. I'd highly recommend checking them out.

Other manufacturers with solid reputations for hardware and support are LDR Motion and Westcott.
You won't go wrong with any of them. Check them out, as there are differences that may best suit your particular need.

Lone Star is a reboot of EZRouter Plasma. I would ask some questions about the hardware and software. I may be older obsolete technogy on some models.
