Scaling a project

Post by davek0974 »

I have a product that is an octagon shaped fire pit, 50cm in dia, a customer wants the same thing but 90cm dia.

So if i scale the component parts 180% will that still fit together or does scale not work for parts made up of smaller parts??

They should still fit, unless they are the tab locking type, and then your tab slots will need to be redrawn to match your material thickness.

Scaling should be fine except for any pieces that rely on the thickness of the material for proper fit. So as mentioned above, if you have a slot that a piece fits into, scaling the object will make the slot larger and thicker so the piece will not fit properly. If it is just overall size then scaling should not matter.
