Hi Alan
What software did you use to trace that wheel??
DIY 4X4 Plasma/Router Table
Hypertherm PM65 Machine Torch
Drag Knife and Scribe
Miller Mig welder
13" metal lathe
Small Mill
Everlast PowerTig 255 EXT

hi
i did the wheel by hand using a mixture of corel draw and solid edge.
wasn't possible to get good trace thro corel so just made circles and drew key components then circular pattern tool.
pretty simple when you break it down as its only geometric shapes.
I tweaked it this morning and sorted some issues, even included the lettering

Thanks for the reply nice work I use Inkscape but images like that you cannot do a quick trace, wanted to see if there was a better way.
I'm to cheap to buy those expensive packages. :o

If you look around you can get many software programs reasonable. I just looked and found " Corel DRAW Home and Student Suite X7 (3-Users)" for less than $40. Not bad if you use less then 3 computers. Other software can be found for a reasonable price if you look around. :D :D

I bought it because solid edge wasn't doing it for me in the arty area, sure its great for structural parts but anything else Corel draw for me.
I've been self taught with Corel over many hours because I needed answers I couldn't find on the net, like anything the more you use it the more proficient you become with your package and then nothing really phases you. sure I could spend a few more hours tweaking bits and pieces on any drawing that I convert for people, but once people see what can be done then maybe it'll inspire them to have a go at converting images, after all at the end of the day its not that hard once you learn the programme

Make sure it will save as a dxf, I have a home and student version and it will not save as a dxf.
