Losing my mind!

Post by BensPlasmaAu »

Al,

I have a very large file I am trying to cut. It is generally fine when I first open it, and it comes from a good source. BUT, when I open it it decides to drop bit out. Lines that were connected have HEAPS of small breaks in them and I fix them all, save it and then it decides to drop other parts out. Everything is on the correct layer, and I've done the fixing up of the file about 4 times now, every time it decides to break lines. WHAT is going on? Any ideas? I'm over it now. 5 hours fixing a file which should only need to have parts lines changed to an inside and an outside layer, and I'm chasing my damn tail.

Ben. The file is 12 MB, so I probably cant send it to you.

Hi Ben

Have you run it through SheetCam yet? might still be OK
I am sure in SC you can set the gap between open lines somewhere, not at my PC at the moment.
It is really annoying I know I have had to re-draw some files that sound like the one you have, same thing, just got really hacked off fixing the drawing time and time again.
Would be nice to find out what it is with some files that makes them do that or maybe they were just badly drawn to start with?

good luck

Thanks exapprentice, i'll have a look through the Sheetcam manual and ask some questions on the forum and see wht can happen. It's an awesome drawing and it would be a great thing to have. It's the first time that this has happened to me though. I am thinking it might be that the file is just too big and the computer can't handle the number of points in it.

Hi Ben

In sheetCam look under "OPTIONS" / "APPLICATION OPTIONS" there is an option "import Link Tolerance" I think that takes care of it??
I am sure if I am not on the right track someone will let us know??
After spending all your time putting the drawing right are you going to post it??

Peter
