3D Dinosaur - Pcm to Dxf Conversion

Post by hvaccer »

A kid from high school needs help cutting a piece since we have a bigger table than the school does. The problem is he drew it in plasma cam and we can't seem to figure out the converting part. Anyone out there willing to help us out?

Here ya go. Tell the lad next time to only convert to cut paths just before cutting and any time they want to share or do something on a different table they need to save the closed/open paths by themselves. If they have advanced design software for their plasmacam they can choose to export it to a DXF for your machine.

I cleaned up these quite a bit. They were all open cut paths with lead ins (which your CAM software probably wouldn't have liked!) and there were several intersections and stray lines. I did NOT check the slots so I have no idea if it will fit together or not but worth some testing or cutting!

Good luck!

The slots are messed up indeed. Unless his target is around 1/2" plate.

Thank you rjd357! I will relay the message, I know their plasma cam is an older unit so that may be part of the problem with exporting. I put your file on my Vicon and everything looks good, but I do see his slots aren't consistent at all so I will talk to him about what he expects for fitting together.
Thanks again!
