Ball Player - Issue with drawing an outline.

Post by alonzo83 »

Hi there. I have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out how to do an outline around my ball player.

I try scaling it and I end up with the mess I have attached. I am at my wits end could someone help me get this right.

If you are using cad or inkscape could you give me some directions on how you were able to do it? I have more drawings to do so I would like to be able to do these on my own.

Thank You for any help or suggestions you can provide.

Alonzo

MasterCam has an OFFSET function so I used it for your outline. Not sure how much you wanted but I think it looks good. If you need something different just ask, OK. :D

Each outline is offset 1/2 inch. Just delete the ones you don't want. See attached zip for the dxf

If you are using Inkscape there are 2 functions that will increase the shape size in increments.
Once you have it as a path you can used "dynaminc offset" which puts a small node on the box around the trace that you can click on and move to enlarge. The other is "offset" which will enlarge in steps each time you click on it. The attached images show these 2 functions.
not a great example but shows what they do. ;)

In Corel you use the Contour function.
See this thread....

Inkscape should have something similar.
