Doing a conversion for a custom fire pit. Here's the original photo:
Here's where I'm at so far:
I'm curious how you would handle that mesh grille, the ram logo in the middle, and the bars.
1) I'm considering cutting all the "mesh" out, and leaving the bar/ram connected to the top of the push bar. However, those long grille bars may end up being too weak, even in 3/16 material.
2) I'm considering using small open lines to create the "mesh" detail, and cutting the Ram logo/bar OUT, leaving them as negative space. The mesh would obviously not be connected, rather probably just a lot of .25" or so open lines. This would leave more material there for, as well as giving the Ram logo/Bar something to "glow" when a fire is burning.
Ideas?

Hey motoguy, maybe consider welding in steel mesh. I did this one recently

That is my new favorite idea! I won't even admit to what I've been doing with the drawing so far. lol

I'm using your idea, and I've simplified it somewhat (holes around grille/LED light). I had planned on using the same sides/base as the Jeep firepits, in order to decrease the unique parts needed in the fire pits. Without a bit of creativity, though, I'll have to make new sideplates. The top tabs on the angled Jeep sideplates just don't line up well. I'm not using 3d modeling, just 2d, so I'll have to learn how to make correctly dimensioned interlocking parts.
Here is the drawing as it currently stands:

It does take some creative thinking, these are just 3 of the many fire pits I have designed and they all share the same sides, top grille and bottom plates.
