not all straight lines cut through

Postby DavisInd » Mon Apr 22, 2013 10:04 am

I gotta say I have learned alot from this forum but now I need help. I have a thermal dynamic A120 plasma, TruCut gentry kit with a water table and use Bobcad CamV25. I have been having problems with some straight lines not cutting through, It does not do it to all straight lines in the same pattern but maybe 1 out of 3 lines. I have THC is that part of my problem. I have talked to others with the same set up and they think it is the torch height control. Has anyone else had this problem or a recommendation? Thanks for the help

How fast are you cutting? What material? What's the plasma set to? What tip is installed in the plasma?

16GA mild steal.80 in per min. torch height of 25 to 27. 30amp tip and 30amps. It will cut everything else fine just random straight lines, it does not go all the way through. if my setting were wrong wouldn't I have problems with more than just a few lines? And if it were my ground why wouldn't I have that problem more often?

You only reach max speed on the straighter lines. On tight curves, CV is going to limit your speed. That would account for why it's not cutting ll the way through on the straight cuts. I would use a 40A tip rather than the 30. 30A tips are drag tips. 40A tips are available in drag or mechanized versions. The part number for the mechanized 40A is 9-8208.

The THC numbers sound way off. At that setting, the torch should be crashing right after it lights. I need more info on that. Call me when you get a chance.

Combination of cutting too fast, using wrong consumables and torch height probably a little high.

what confuses me the most with this rapid movement problem, is how inconsistent it is. I can have a row of 10 identical lines and maybe 4 out of 10 actually work. If all my settings were wrong, none of my cuts should work. Or I can cut one design perfect and when i cut it again, I get rapid movements again. I have gone months without this problem but again today it's happening again. It does not make sense

doesn't sound like your settings , sounds like you have "Electrical Noise". It is bad, makes strange things happen. This is usually the cause of sudden Rapid Movements. Give us a call 615-290-6260
