simple clamp

I needed to hold a small piece of flat stock to the end of a tube so I could tig it on. Here is a simple clamp I made to do it. It is a scrape piece of angle with a threaded hole (3/8"-16) on one side. I used a "C" clamp to hold it to the tube and slid the flat stock in and tightened the 3/8" bolt

Maybe it's just me but what about a magnet? Or holding it with 1 hand and tacking it?

Problem with magnets is that it effects the welding. Usually I just hold it and tack. This clamp idea is pretty good though, should save some heat on the fingers.
