quick cam for cnc

Post by Traneman »

Well I will probably get called lazy but I got tired of having to get up and check where my torch head was on the table or metal, then back to the computer
to jog it.....back and forth....back and forth

I mounted a $20.00 Quick cam on a bracket attached to the gantry and positioned it up high so I can see the torch and about 1/4 of my table.I just open the Quick Cam program, move it to the side of the screen and jog away.

I was surprised to see how well it worked

Just thought I would pass this along

It took me moment to figure out what you were describing. I am thinking you mounted a web cam to your gantry...clever.

Nice idea. You should post a video of it in action.

I am using a X Box controller to set up my work right at the table. I can stay at the table and stop, start, and move the torch and set zeros.

There are videos on youtube to show you how it works.

OR

Torchmate has a palm key board. You would have to see if either are compatible with your equipment.

I would love to see a picture or video of your cam. Great idea and thank you for sharing! Now the wife is gonna ask me why I need a webcam in the man cave...which should raise many eyebrows because I am usually in there late and often...LOL
