Pricing Help!, first big order
This is my first big order and I'm not sure what to quote. I don't use SheetCam so I can't use the usual formulas with linear inches cut, etc. The company wants a breakdown for 100, 500, and 1000. These will be ~36" tall with two "spikes" on the bottom to put in the ground. I have a 4x8 table Precision Plasma table and will be using 14ga steel. My steel cost is $50 per sheet, although I am sure I can get a better deal ordering this much.
Thanks for any input.

By nesting them just right and changing the tip of one leaf you can get 8 of these on a 4 X 8 sheet with room to spare. Hope this helps you with pricing the parts.
The box is 47 1/2" wide and 46" tall. I changed the leaf tip on the one fifth from the right.

Will the spikes be welded on or will they be cut as part of the design?

Thanks! I haven't gotten that far yet.Larry83301 wrote:By nesting them just right and changing the tip of one leaf you can get 8 of these on a 4 X 8 sheet with room to spare. Hope this helps you with pricing the parts.

Probably as part of the design unless it works out better to weld round bar on back. I'm guessing I'll be better off cutting it as one piece.mdwalker wrote:Will the spikes be welded on or will they be cut as part of the design?

That will make a big difference in how they will nest and how many you can cut from a sheet.

Correct. I was told to tweak them if need be for whatever makes sense. And we plan to cut other items into the waste. I haven't had time to lay them out yet but wanted to get the ball rolling on some opinions.mdwalker wrote:That will make a big difference in how they will nest and how many you can cut from a sheet.

Are you able to post the dxf file of your picture? I may have time to play around with it some

Unfortunately, no. I use FlashCut and I am not able to export DXF's with the standard version. I bought a new computer today so I don't have Inkscape or anything else loaded yet. I'll get them installed tomorrow.mdwalker wrote:Are you able to post the dxf file of your picture? I may have time to play around with it some

Here is a quick trace I did before work. It still needs some work but I am still very slow at Inkscape. Can anyone tell me the linear inches? Does the trial version of SheetCam do this for you?
Thanks

I had to edit the above dxf to connect and eliminate some broken paths but it comes to about 422 cut inches and 5 pierces at 36" tall.

This is with adding the stakes to cut as part of the design. I had to edit the design a little. You can get 6 to a 4' x 8' sheet and with a very minimal amount of further editing you could get 7 on a sheet. Without the stakes you can get 9. The total cut inches as pictured with stakes is 460" with 9 pierces. Without stakes is 410" with 9 pierces. Hope this helps.

Thank you! This helps a ton. Any idea what you guys would charge for these? I'm somewhere between $15-$25 depending on quantity.

Probably just deburring them. They will be getting powder coated eventually.torched wrote:How are you finishing them?
