Plasma Pricing app...

Post by davek0974 »

Sometime back I produced a little windows app for working out basic plasma quotes, I can't find the thread now and it may have been part of another conversation so probably never find it again :D

Anyway, I have a new version now and if any of those out there that tried it want a new copy please let me know and i'll email it off.

Please let me know if you already have the app as the upgrade is then simply dropping the new app in place of the old one, if you have never had it then i'll send an installer package instead.

It's free still but naturally you can make a donation, details are in the help tab ;) ;)

Please note:
To save the hassle of emailing etc, I have put a download page on my blog site here http://davekearley.co.uk/downloads/

I would give it a shot, shoot me an email with the installer package please. That is, so long as it does dollars and inches / feet, I don't need anything heavy or confusing, like pounds or m&m's. I like to eat them, not measure with them.....

I'll get a copy off to you Monday, yes it does inch or metric and $ or £ but only one of each - it must be set before anything else and is fixed after.

Hmm, seems interest is high, thanks :D :D

To save the hassle of emailing etc, I have put a download page on my blog site here http://davekearley.co.uk/downloads/

I will also post up any future updates there, when updating it is best to choose the .exe download and drop it into the folder as this saves the hassle of doing a full install each time, its only a small program and has no ties to other files.

Thanks

Dave,

Got my hands on the App this morning first thing. I'm delighted with the result. It worked as planned and expected without any problems.

I updated the defaults and created two quotes without any trouble in about 10mins. I like the Sheetcam import feature. Nice feature.

This is just a wish, if possible, but it would be nice to be able to export the quote data into a delimited excel format so it can automatically populate an excel quote template minus actual costs.

If I missed this feature/capability please let me know.

Excellent, glad you like it so far.

Re the excel export, if you let me know what fields/format you want I am sure it can be added easily, If you can choose the fields, i can simply export everything in a CSV style.

Dave
keep it simple. I would simply point the csv data cells with my costs, unit pricing, and other data fields to the correct cells base on a free text export. I wouldn't even need headers. I'd just add/drag the tab into my quote template that way the cells would align each time I opened my master quote template for the next quote. It's sorta what I'm already doing now with the excel pricing worksheet that's been floating around here.

p.s. just used this app to import a "FULL" SheetCAM job report and it only grabbed the first toolset, should I be using the "Summary" export of the report instead?

Ok thanks i'll have a look at that csv.

Re the sheetcam import, its a bit simplistic at present, it only really does what i do - one part per import, does not handle duplicated jobs or manual nested stuff etc, too complex at present.

Big update just added :D

It will now not only recognise nested sheet cam jobs, it will also create a custom job report layout for sheet cam to use :D

To use it, simply choose the "Load from sheetcam" option, load an existing sheetcam job report - this will generate a message telling you the report was not created in the correct format and ask if you would like to install the custom layout option for sheetcam. If you select "yes" then follow the trail in the dialogue box heading, it will create a custom report layout for your sheetcam app.

Next time you go to sheetcam and choose "Job Report" you will see a new folder "Plasma Estimator V3", choose this, run your report then save it somwhere. Now load that report into the program and it should recognise the whole job and not just the first part :D

There is also a trial button for a CSV export, it seems to load into my Excel ok but not sure if it's what was needed - let me know.
