Pointless me telling you not to worry but that is just windows security in a panic because the download is an executable file - it thinks its viral. You can simply override this and download it if wanted.

I can fix this by renaming the file or a few other methods.

Will post an update soon.

Thanks for trying anyway

Think I have fixed it now, hopefully.

The Zip download now has read-me file in it, please follow the instructions.

That should hopefully satisfy Windows security system.

If someone could test it, it would be much appreciated, thanks.

Trying to unzip the executable and get message in second pic. Is the file protected with a password?

The first pic is of my file structure under SheetCam, no Plasma Estimator V3 folder. Did a search for Sheetcam.txt, does not exist.
I'm not giving up!!!

No Readme file in my zip, password worked though. Ran the program and it does not prompt me to create the report.
Not sure what to do at this point.

Did you try importin a SC job report??

It only prompts when you try to import a SC job report, any job report.

If still no luck i can email you the report template but it should work.

Yes, but I get the same message as I posted above. Click OK but no choice to recreate the template.

Ok, download this attachment,
Plasma Estimator V3.zip
It contains one folder, paste the folder here...

C:\Program Files\SheetCam TNG\Languages\en\HTML\Reports

Then go to Sheetcam, job reports, choose Plasma Estimator V3 from the template list, run it and it will import into the app.

I am having trouble changing the currency and units in the program setup. It won't let me change either of them. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Once they have been set once they are fixed as there is no conversion built in etc.

I think if you look in the app folder you will see a .txt file called currency or something like that, open it and it should simply say the rates have been set, its only a marker file, just delete it and you will be able to change the currency :)

I'm only working on memory here as the code is at work and I'm still off :)

Let us know

Yes windows only

did you download the FULL install first??

You need the full install, install but don't run it, then get the update program, extract and copy into the folder where the install placed the original app - just overwrite it.

Future updates only need the smaller update app

Dave,

I couldn't find the currency file you were speaking of. I deleted the whole program and reinstalled it with the the new update. I ran the program and went into setup. I still couldn't change the currency nor units. I fell as though im doing something wrong. Here is a screen shot of the program setup and of the folder where everything is located.

My apologies, I will have to check the code on Monday when i return to work, sorry i cannot do it sooner.

I have just checked it on my install and with LabourRates.txt, MetalTypes.txt and MyPrinter.txt it should start up and immediately ask for the rates to be setup.

Can you make sure you have "view hidden files" turned in windows to make sure the control files are not hidden. The files that control it seem to be called FilePaths.txt and SystemUnits.txt - if these files exist then currency is locked.

I think current version of the app is 3.0.26 you can check this on the About menu.

Do a search of your hard drive for the files stated above.
I can edit the units, materials, etc. but when I click on the edit material data files directly I get a different file than what the program shows.
I found out the program is storing the edited data in this location:
C:\Users\tnbnd\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Plasma Estimator V3
But the program files are located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Plasma Estimator V3
I would like the edited program data to overwrite the original files in the install folder if possible.

Hi

this is a Windows thing - I am a dinosaur and still running XP here :) Why? Because it works thats all - it stores things where i tell it to ;)

I have no other windows versions and have never used windows above XP so i can offer little help I'm afraid.

It does look like you have found the answer though and editing the files in that location should do the trick.

I know i will have to update one day but VB6 is not supported on Win10 so I could not write apps anymore, thanks Microsoft!

Thanks for helping find the answer too:)

Someday when I get time I will research why Windows does this or if it can be changed.
I am running Windows 10 on my new laptop and when I installed Plasma Estimator V3 and had the same issues I did some searching and found the files.
It is weird but I new there had to be an answer.
I have things working fine now and like the app. It is nice and simple to use.

Dave and Dennis,

Thanks you very much for your help. I found the file location you mentioned Dennis. Dave thanks for telling me about showing hidden files. I didn't even think of that. I opened the system units file and typed in "$" and "in", saved it and reopened the program to much joy. I attached a picture of what to do in case anyone else experiences the same problem.

Hey!

I had try to use this programm.
I have Win 10 64bit.
I had install it, copy the updated .ee and overwrite the old one.
I can import a Sheetcam job report, but when I click on calculate, nothings happend. The only thing the programm calculated is the design charge, but no material cost etc.
Had anyone the same problem? I have try the prog in XP Mode, but the same problem.
