Scissor tool for laying out railing post spacing

Post by nuno115 »

Hello,

I don't know the name of it, so I took pictures, we use this for the fabrication of railings, it makes it faster to mark where the pickets are going. A worker brought this in, he has this already for over 15 years.
Thanks

Thank you for the drawing and the name.
Still cannot find anything similar, but I will keep searching.
I will probably try to make one.

I had an older tradesman worked for me years ago that had one he used whenever marking out lobster back bends, he referred to it as a geometric divider. When he left we had the apprentice make a couple for shop use, especially for marking out rivet spacing, pretty sure our ones had 13 tips to provide 12 spaces.

Looks a lot like an adjustable rivet spacer....I got mine from aircraftspruce dot com. They've got a 10-hole and a 20-hole model. I think the 20 hole model will expand up to 36". They work great!

Ok, I found the company that sells them http://djaimports.com, the previous ones that we bought are not that good, this and the split dimensions is not as good as the original one, this is the link to the catalog, the tool costs 160.00. its solid and made out of stainless steel.

http://djaimports.com/catalog/online_catalog.php

page 168

Its called a PICKET SPACING TOOL $160.00

Thank you everyone for your help.
