I found a very useful little tool.
It is a Magnetic Tape Holder.
Really handy when you want to take measurement on a sheet midway.
When you have no edge to hook your tape it gives you a solid accurate point.
It really works well.
But that is just part of it. Since I'm a newbie I'm constantly walking around my table while cutting . . .
Tip ups scare the crap out of me.
Usually keep a pair of extra long needle nose pliers handy.
Well yesterday got what I knew was going to be a tip up since it was already rocking and I knew my torch was headed there in few seconds . . . no pliers to be found & could not get a grip with gloves.
I grabbed the my new little tool . . . got right over it and plink straight up . . . it now stays stuck to frame . . .
I could not believe how well it worked or that I had not thought of this sooner . . .
If you decide to use this little tool or another strong magnet keep it away from your motors (stepper or servo).

P.S. Hypertherm sells this same little tool with their name on it in black if you can find someone that stocks it.

Re: Magnetic Tape Holder
Just rembember the magnetism can distort your plasma arc, and could cause problems.

Trust me I wait until I know where the gantry is headed . . .and stay clear . .
But it does "pluck" those "potential" problems right up . . .
