Paint on powder

Post by sawdust1 »

I am making a flat wall hanging of an airplane. I have powdered and cooked the base colour. I would like to mask and use spray paint for the details. Does it matter what kind of paint? The powder layer is plastic, should I use a plastic paint or rust paint or,,, I am open to suggestions. I intend to clear coat the final project.

Use what ever paint you like. Have never had a reaction with paint and power. On the other hand you can get a bad reaction between different paints so do test if you're not sure.

Thank you Rick, I will mask progressive layers so they should not touch.

Like I said different paints react. If not sure do a test on a piece of scrap. A little time to test can save you a lot of do overs. Sorry

It's all learning and I am OK with that! I am having difficulty preventing bleed under the tape. I have the proper tape, I think I need to roller it down tight just before I hit the nozzle. When I use vinyl from my drag cutter I do not have this problem.
