Re: Blasting sand
For powdercoating I would say Aluminum Oxide. It's a uniform size and doesn't pulverize to dust as quickly. I've tried sand and glass and I found that AO just leaves a better profile and the powder flows out better. Lasts much longer in my Empire cabinet before it's sucked away by the dust collector too. I get 60 and 80 grit. For aluminum I turn the pressure down to about 25psi for the last pass.
I pay .66 a pound for brown aluminum oxide.

silicon carbide is the best. 100 grit, low to no static , long lasting and cuts quick.
