How to get best results for brushed aluminum?

Post by gamble »

Anyone have any good ways to get a consistent brushed aluminum look?

What I used to do was use wd40 and a red scotch brite pad, but left an oil finish that would collect finger prints.
So I did without the WD40 and it works ok, but still doesn't address some of the really minor top dross.
Now I use a DA sander with high grit sandpaper then wipe with the pad on top. This gives me the best finish and it takes a few minutes longer, but I still get some dull spots and some open holes on the part will grab and rip apart the red pad.
Is there a better technique or something else I can try to get the same results over and over again?

do a google search for a metabo burnishing sanding kit.
