How many Amps Does your oven pull?

Post by tc_fab »

Looking into building a powder coating oven 4x4x8. Just wondering how many amps they are pulling? I have a residential shop that has 100Amp service at this time. Will be looking to upgrade in the future to 200 Amp. Just wondering if I should build now or wait till I upgrade. Thanks

Over on http://www.powder365.com/forum/ there are several threads on how many amps an oven pulls. How to figure how many amps you need for a given size oven is discussed in a couple of the threads. You should be able to find the information you need by doing a search over there.

It all depends on the elements you are going to use to heat it. Heating the oven up will pull a lot more amperage than just maintaining temperature....again, depending on how many elements and their rating.
