Aging silver

Post by rtsplace »

Have a friend who bought a silver dime bracelet for his wife which was nicely aged or patina finish. He took it to a jeweler for repair and they polished it or chemical dip it, he was not happy. Does anyone know of a way to rapidly get the patina back on silver ? These were old mercury dimes so they should be pure silver for the most part.
Thanks Ray

Hi All, Looks like I found my own answer, one can use standard household bleach diluted with water or can even be used straight, diluted it just takes a little longer. If used full strength it turns silver black pretty much instantly. I have not tried it yet so be careful.
