Printing a 1:1 Trace Using Inkscape ?

Post by steel 35 »

I have tried printing a few projects using Inkscape with no luck,

Have used Autocad in the past for templates, print them tape them down presto.
Yesterday I down sized a traced photo to a desired size for a wooden template spent hours and could not print it.
I tried saving it DXF into autocad and It did not show up so that didn't work, as well as snipping it, that threw out the scale I was after, Tried everything I could think of but putting the pen one my machine to do it. Any suggestions?

Ok with Inkscape you need to set the scale before you start drawing, Go to file menu down to "Document properties" click on it. I un-click Show page borders and then in the upper right under "default units" arrow click on "in" for inches. Then you will have the correct scale you can print thing less then 8"X 11" I don't know how larger part will show up on paper. It may print many pages that you can overlap and tape together???

I Just learned from watching part of the the short videos you posted how to change to Inches what a pleasure that was.
I made a quick test round corner box 3"X 4" came out solid black the hole page! No fill selected, simple outline box. No can do.
I got my project done by making a template out of 14G but not what I was after

It seems like I've had this happen to me. If I remember right I had an older printer, and the driver was the problem. My new printer has no problem at all with it.

At least that's how I remember it, Steve
