Hi need some advice , I have a thermal dynamics PAK 45 it's a great old big 400a transformer based plasma cutter that has N2 plasma gas and CO2 shield gas.
I would like to get a better cut quality on mild steel plus get rid of the nitrogen bottles . I have seen on the net torch conversions that run off compressed air and claim to have much better cut quality !
Has any one replaced the n2 torch with a new one that runs off compressed air and is the cut quality better , I don't expect it to be like inverter quality , but gas consumption is expensive plus the cost of a new torch is a fraction of a new plasma cutter !

Re: Old plasma cutter with new torch
I had one of those which I used only compressed air. I used the torch that came with it. Could you change out the torch with a one torch I don't know and anyone from the factory will tell you not to do it.
