Cutmaster 82 cut speeds help

Post by Little Leonard »

I'm running a td cutmaster 82 hand touch and wanted to see who you guys have your cut speeds set to. I'm cutting 14g and 3/16 for the most part. I've started off on 3/16 with 60amp, 70ipm with height set at .0564. I'm getting ok cuts but I just think it can do a lot better I've yet to get my thc working right so I've been cutting with it off. Any help will be great thanks guys and love this forum.

Here is a link to the cut charts appropriate to the CM 82:

You would want the manual for the A60.

What characteristic of the cut do you want to improve? There are several variables to manage, but dross will be influenced more by cut speed, bevel by cut height, kerf width by cutting current and tip.

What is it you want to improve?

Rule of thumb:

Hard bottom dross, difficult to remove or dross on top of the plate = cutting too fast

Bottom dross easy to remove = cutting a little slow

Of course there can be other variables, but that is the place to start

If the THC isn't working, that will have some effect on the cut. Accurate torch height plays a significant role in getting a quality cut. Your cut speeds sound OK. On our A120, 3/16, 60A, I'm at 60IPM with almost no dross.
