Getting New Machine January 16

Post by TexasDano »

Hello Guys. Its been interesting looking though all of the information here while deciding on a table setup. I decided to go with a 5' x 10' Plasmaroute table. It is coming with Thermal Dynamics A-120 plasma, Dewalt router and an Air scribe. THC, Sheetcam, Mach3, and Artcam Express for software and I already use Autocad. Also I am having them build a water table. I guess I will get more to talk about once it arrives. I have not read one bad review about Plasmaroute. I am very excited and anxious to get cutting on some stuff.

Well, its the 29th, but I just got my machine today. Loving it so far. This is just out of the box picture. LOL  I was so busy cutting things and trying out stuff that I forgot to take more pics with it running and full of water.[img] http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-p ... 7599_n.jpg [img][

Well I am learning a lot since it got here. Cut a few parts. Need to learn more  . Been reading up on the manuals for Sheetcam and Mach3. Going to try to use a game controller on it tomorrow. I tested it here on my laptop and it did work. Also going to try to install homing switches for all axis. I'll post some pics soon of the table and some of the things I've been working on.

Good Evening Folks, First thing, The wireless game controller. It did work. And I do like it. BUT, Be careful if you try it.!! I downloaded plugin from Mach3 for the Logitech Joy-pad. Bought one and did some dry runs with machine offline. Tried a few things like walked 50' from the machine, and it kept signal. That was good. Then, I checked axis DROs on Mach3, sometimes it works, sometime it keeps moving. I unplugged the USB receiver for the game pad from the computer and it started moving in rapid X axis, no keyboard response, so I had to turn off the drives to stop it.
Now I have downloaded the manual and intend to read the whole thing through before I attempt this experiment again. (It's over 1/2 as thick as the Mach3 Manual)

On another note, I had some good luck cutting slots in a 1/2" wall 310SS spun cast pipe. Cutting a 1.5" slot , 2 @180 degrees for each end. I will have to manually turn them in the bed but it is much better and faster than when we cut them by hand. I love my THC.

A few more pics of my setup.
(And that BLUE stuff you see in those pics, it's the blue dye from the recipe here. Maybe it said granules and I got powder. Anyways I'm leaving it out of the next batch. It made a skin on the top and wouldn't mix in without squeezing it in your hands under water several times. Just sharing the experience.)
