Ohmic sensing

Post by Railmen »

K just want to clear up something I heard about ohmic sensing, I heard that after the torch fires that it also senses tip voltage to help the DHTC run right????

I was under the understanding that Ohmic was only used to find the top of the plate for the right pierce height instead of using a limit switch???

The ohmic has nothing to do with arc voltage. Arc voltage is what voltage it takes to maintain a height based on the current (amps), consumables, speed of movement and material to a lessor degree.
You are correct in it is just to find the top of material without pushing down and distorting thin gauge.
