New Computer/PlasmaCam DHC

Post by JKSafetyPro »

After 6 years, the old computer w/parallel port died. We were forced to purchase a new computer with out a parallel port. We purchased a cable, parallel connection and a usb connection. No connection is being made between the table and the computer. Will this cable not work? If it will is there settings that need to be change? Or do I have to have a parallel card installed?

Jeff,
You'll need to install a parallel card for sure.
USB converters won't work.

Have you considered a USED computer? My setup requires a serial port, and I got a used computer for under $100, with the serial port, AND running Windows 2000. Loads quick, no bugs and I'm very pleased. I even have a second 'puter on stand by.

Dell still makes computers with parallel ports. Look up the Dell Optiplex 380
You can also get a parallel port card from www.softio.com
