New plasma table arrived

Post by krymis »

Well I am picking up my table today. After1pm I will be putting it together. Getting very excited. Any pointers as I get started? I got a DHC2 with all upgraded software, Plasmacam computer, Hypertherm powermax65 cutter, Plasmacam router kit, Plasmacam engraver kit, HF air dryer. Anything I am missing?

Well guys I just took the time to hook up the torch control wires as per the instructions on the manual. Pretty scary to open a new plasma cutter and start cutting into the wiring. So hopefully the electrician checks it out and it is all good. Up next is to clean the final spot for the machine to sit and get the computer in a cabinet and cutter mounted in the machine

so today i got the area where the machine's final spot will be. I have lights and plasma cutter electric being ran tomorrow. Then it is just setting the machine in place and hooking up the downdraft.

Hypertherm hooked up, plasmacam put together, and plasmacam in final location for now. Last night added lights and 220v receptacle Still need computer enclosure, downdraft setup, and white insulated metal panels on walls

not yet. I got to plumb the HF air dryer tonight, finish the plug on the other end of the 220v line, put in grounding rod, and wait for my fan for the down draft. I am moving the computer out tonight to start getting the table moving around.

I would add the motor guard M 26 filter between the air dryer and the Plasma cutter! Having fun yet

I have the M60 paper filter at the plasma. Do you think that is enough?

I ran movement tests last night. I used the control box to shuttle and jog around the table. I then used the butterfly program to move the table solely by the computer. I am happy with the movement. Now to setup the settings for the table and plasma, the router, and the scriber.

I have owned a plasma cam for 10 years. I maybe spent $1200 through the years in maintenance, new bearing, new grate etc. solid machine. Of that $1200 one year spent $800 and I built a different grate system and replaced all the bearings and bought a extra Z axis motor for a spare. So you should get great service from this machine.

I just stopped using it only because I bought a laser but I still have it.

Uzaree or anyone else with a laser... I have a diy plasma water table, the water catches the heat/smoke after the flame cuts the metal. The flame is really quite short. On a laser system what catches the light? This may be a dumb question but does the light beam not stay coherent? On a downdraft table with no water where does the beam become too weak to cut?

What I have is a co2 laser and it is neither powerful enough nor set up to cut metal BUT I can tell you that once the beam is significantly out of focus it is relatively harmless. It is absorbed by most surfaces and the heat dissipates.
