Samson 510 PlasmaCam- Torch Won't Fire - Help Please!

Post by jpkita »

Hey All

We just got a new plasmacam samson model 510 and are in the process of setting it up. Everything has been assembled, but we are having a problem with the torch. It won't fire. The plasmacam will trace out our pattern, but no activity from the torch.

The table is a samson 510
The plasma cutter is a hypertherm 1250 (machine is on and air is hooked up and on)
Computer runs Vista

Here is what we have tried ( we are using the program provided)

1. -Settings -Settings - System Start up -Detect Machine (Machine was detected successfully)
2.- Machine -Initialize ( Movement from cam , it grinds a little but that is apparently normal)
3. Make a pattern , set cut path , do a dry run

At this point it seems like its gonna work, but if we turn the cutting option to auto, the cam stops and we get an error message that says something like "no signal from torch"

We double checked the trigger , the wiring in the machine , and all other factors with the plasma cutter and cant find anything wrong. All things were prepared exactly as the video manual describes.

When we hit test in the cut menu on the control panel , nothing happens- no light no activity from the torch

Any thoughts?

Yes....your torch trigger wiring connections are not done correctly. If using a hand torch, refer to Plasmacams wiring on the supplied video disc. If using a machine torch the torch start wiring needs to be connected to pins 3 and 4 on the CPC interface connector on the rear panel of the Powermax 1250.

Hey,

So we are using a hand torch. Clipped the purple wire, black and white connected as shown in video. On the plasma cutter circuit board the terminal were attached with the red and black wire- black to + and - to red. That is how it was in the video, what is going wrong?

Did you tye wrap the torch trigger switch? make sure the plug is properly inserted in the Plasmacam control box? The white black wires are the start signal.....could be a bad connection with the purple wires.

Yes, The trigger has been zipped down. Double checked that. The purple wire was stripped and terminals were installed. Seems like the connection is good to the white and black wire. Anything else to try?

Proper air pressure going to your cutter (specified in the operator manual for your cutter) and make sure that ground clamp is connected to either your grates or an edge of the material that your are cutting ( I have accidentally missed this before). I would also try to give the guys in tech support a call. They have always been excellent in helping out when ever I need any advice.

I hope this helps out.
