A few Q on my Plasmacam.

Post by MIFab »

Ok so Im running Pc v3.11

1. I keep getting run over from my lead outs/ lead in's and its making my projects look crappy !
2. I'm cutting 16.g hot rolled and Im getting a good bit of bow up when cutting how do I combat this without a water table?
I left my plasma cam book at the in-laws and for some reason I cant get the video manuel to work. Im trying to get my diving problem figured out.... Height pierce 0.02 rapid travel 0.05 Arc Vshift 0.999 zshift -0.2 .... It will go down pierce come up and cut then dip then up then close then so close Ill get scratch marks on the surface some times it ll shift the whole 4x4 sheet .

Your diving problem is caused by the pierce height being too low. It is supposed to be approx 2X the cut height.

Your pierce should be .150
Rapid travel acceleration is always .1
Cut height .063
Start the Arc Voltage Shift at .8 You will have to adjust the Arc Voltage Shift to get the correct cut height. If the torch is cutting too close, then increase the Arc voltage shift. If the torch is too high, then decrease the arc voltage shift.

Thanks for the info things have been really slow due to it being -15 for a daily high and my air compressor cant run unless the ambient temp is above 32*. I really like my a/c but if I would of known about the temp thing when I was buying it I would of gone in a different direction !

Hang a small space heater in front of it to warm the oil.

My compressor is outside of my shop (noise abatement!) and has been for 5 years. It starts hard on mornings like today (-5 F here in NH), but once it runs a few cycles it is ok! One of these days I expect to see a connecting rod and pisting hanging out through the compressor block! (backup compressor is ready when needed!)

It is cold this winter.

While working in my shop on the electrical yesterday I noticed it was down to 57*F.

It gets much colder and I will need a heater in there. :D

It's been -40 deg F here for a few days. Even for a diehard Canadian that's too cold!

57 is definitely t shirt weather here in NH. Open all the doors and windows!

It is zero F out right now, snowing and expect to have a foot acumulation by nightfall. This on top of the 8" we got on Monday. Some talk about the temp "getting down to freezing".......this time of the year we talk of it "getting up to freezing"! 32 F feels pretty nice actually!

Cold lol as I type this it is -31 and falling. I wish I could see a pic of the heating element that is for the 7.5hp 80 gal Quincy but I can find one. Im wondering is if I could get a hot water tank element that would fit .
