Fine Cut Settings

Post by Twisted 1 »

Hi all. I am wondering if there is anyone using a powermax 600 on a PCAM DHC machine. I am curious as to the settings that you are using for finecuts. I cut alot of 10, 12, 14 guage steel and am currently using regular consumables. Also what kerf offset are you using. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

10 ga.
.5 second pierce delay, .062" cut height, .12" pierce height, 98 inches per minute, 40 Amps

12 ga.
.3 second pierce delay, ,062" cut height, .12" pierce height, 125 inches per minute, 40 amps

14 ga.

.25 second pierce delay, .062" cut height, 12" pierce height, 160 inches per minute, 35 amps

These specs will get you real close. If you get too much dross, increase the speed until it goes away. Cut height is critical.

For kerf offset....it is best to get the quality dialed in to where you want it...then do a straight line cut using those specs and measure the kerf. This is because anything that you change, speed, height, amperage, air pressure....will change the kerf width. Once you measure the kerf, divide it by 2, and enter that amount for your kerf width in the PlasmaCam setup files.

No....sorry, those specs are for the shielded 40 amp consumables for the Powermax600. The Fine cut setting are :

10 ga.

40 amps, cut height .08", pierce height .012", pierce delay .5 sec, cut speed, 50 ipm.

12 ga.

40 amps, cut height .08", pierce height .12", pierce delay .25 seconds, cut speed , 70 ipm.

14 ga.

40 amps, cut height .08", pierce height .12", pierce delay .2 seconds, cut speed 135 ipm.

These will be close with the 600, the 1000, the 1250 and the 1650 if using finecut consumables.
