Hypertherm PM 1100 old against PM 85 new

Post by East German »

Hello,

I have my Powermax 1100 with Machine Torch for 6 years on my Machine.
I love him, he always does a good job. But I wonder if a new Powermax 85 would not be better?
Would the cut quality be better?
A new Powermax 85 with Machine Torch M85m costs in Germany 6200 euro.
Should you take another machine burner?!
Should I change. What do you all mean.
A few pictures of the results with the Powermax 1100.
I am a hobby cutter and process 2000 to 3000 kg a year.

Thank you for your opinion.

Best regards Peter

Powermax85 is two generations of product newer than the 1100. It cuts thicker, faster, squarer, with less dross and about 3x the consumable parts life as compared to the Powermax1100, which was last produced about 18 years ago. Jim Colt Hypertherm

The mini machine torch is the same torch as the regular long machine torch. If you buy the long one and decide you want the mini, simply follow the directions in your manual to convert to a mini. On my machine with a low gantry the mini fits best. Jim Colt Hypertherm

Hello
Yesterday came the new!

Font and outer edge with 1500 mm / minute.

See the Picture!

The winner is: ...... Powermax 85
But the Powermax 1100 has done very well and remains my friend.

Here are 1/2" (12.5 mm) cuts using the Powermax85 using the 45 amp shielded process. Lower amperage produces better holes and edge angularity.

Thanks Jim,

This looks very good!
Which settings are taken?
The cutting parameters of the Hypertherm manual do not go up to 12mm 45A!?
Which settings?

Thanks Peter
