PM45 XP Cooling Fan LOUD!

Got my PM45 XP a few months now and it's working great only thing is that the fan comes on very hard and is loud almost as loud as a vauccum cleaner. Of course this only happens when doing long cuts. Is this normal for the fan to come on so hard and be loud? Just asking because my old PM600 was relatively quiet even when doing long cuts. thanks

Mine does that same thing. Someone mentioned it a while back, and Jim Colt said it was typical for the XP, as they increased the cutting capacity without increasing the amperage or the size of the enclosure, so the fan kicked on more often and for longer lengths of time.

The fan in the 45XP is fairly loud compared to some of our earlier products.....though I am not aware of any issues with them at this point. Jim Colt Hypertherm
