NUMBER OF PIERCINGS BY HYPERTHERM CONSUMABLES

Post by enzed »

Can the Hypertherm guys perhaps give us an indication (a table perhaps?) of the number of piercings we can expect from the machine torch consumables? I know that this depends on a number of variables, so the precise number of expected piercings will consequently vary, but even an approximate number or range will be useful; particularly when calculating the costs of a job to include a charge for the cost of consumables, based on the number of piercings.

I doubt a chart will be created as way to many variables affect consumable wear.
I had a pierce counter added to my Mach 3 screen last year and I will tell you that I get way more pierces than I thought I was. Changed the last set at 2400 pierces, PM45 always run at 45 amps with material varying from 16 gauge to 1/4" plate. Not sure that helps you but take it for what it's worth.

This. I don't have a pierce counter, but when I DON'T crash out the torch head, I'm amazed at how long the consumables last in 3/16" and less materials. I cut thicker than that, but not regularly, so I don't know how long they go there.
