HT 1000 MT

Ive got the Hypertherm 1000 with the original machine torch. I cant seem to get the consumables switch to depress with the consumables on , but I can without the nozzle in there. It used to work but not anymore. Is the retaining cap supposed to bottom out against the torch? Or can I build up the switch a little?
