? for Jim Colt

Post by OTHill »

What are the parts and part numbers to convert a PM 65 plasma to machine cutting? Are all 65 s the same from early to late? Do they use the same components to run various cnc tables. My supplier says I need the model and serial number of the plasma and of the table that it's going to run in order to get the right components.I am running Cand cnc electronics. Thanks.

The Powermax65's have remained unchanged since they were first introduced 6 years ago. If your 65 originally was purchased with a hand torch.....then it will not be equipped with the CPC interface port that comes with machine torch versions. The CPC upgrade kit, 028697, can be ordered and comes with easy installation instructions. The CPC port provides the correct connections for interfacing the start, arc transfer and divided arc voltage outputs necessary for machine torch use on a CNC cutting machine. Obviously you would need a machine torch as well.....there are options of length depending on what your table requirements are. Jim Colt Hypertherm

You have a couple of options. keep the hand torch and use the amchine torch consumables list in the 65 manual and the Universal connection Kit that includes a voltage divider card, a digital current sensor (for TRANSFER signal) and cables to the electronics OR do as Jim says and upgrade to the Machine torch , and the internal CPC port and get the single cable interface (MIC01) to connect the electronics if they are made in the last 4 years.

Jim. Does the 028697 kit contain the voltage divider card?

Yes, there is a tiny voltage divider board with selectable DIP switches, wire harness and CPC port. Easy to install. Jim Colt Hypertherm
