Finished up my bender yesterday. Very pleased. Cut from 5/8". I had to clean up every hole for bolts and pins to fit but turned out nice. I had $150 into the plate about $160 in pins hardware wheels, etc 70 for the ram and 200 for the die. Bent tube nice. Thanks for the file!!

Thats awesome Tom I built my first one a few years ago and then built a heavier version with a bit of a twist.

This is a vid of my first test with it and the new powerpack

The powerpack is much faster then the air hydraulic I used but fit my budget :)
Very empress with the ratchet at the pivot point :o I had not seen that before did you show Frank??
I modified the die so I could bend past 90 degrees with a 90 degree die plus adding a roller to replace the slide block.

Ya the power pack is much faster than the air over setup. I originally had an exact copy of the plans with air over cyl first, but I was dumb and forgot to pull the pin after resetting the dies and ended up messing up the uprights I fixed it back up but I wanted to build it heavier as I was noticing the holes in the tubes getting oval ed after awhile. I never did show Frank I guess I should get some finished pics of it and show him.

Anyone have the JD2-32 DXF files? My son has access to the dies at work so we want to build the bender based on the 32 model.
Thanks

Are the notches in the main plates required? I noticed in the original plans that it states that one side will need notched. However from pictures it doesn't look like it would interfere in that side with the angled design. So do they need to be in the design?

The notch was there to clear the air motor--so it would only ever need to be on the right-hand side...but I just kept both sides the same to make things easy.

BUT, looking at it after the fact, there is enough room if it were made straight, no notch.

any specs on the ram? I tried the part number in the instructions but got nothing from harbour freight. what was the stroke and bore size you guys used. It may be listed here some where but I just cant find it. I have a hydraulic power pack Id like to use. I just got to pick up the right sized ram. thanks in advance.

Here is the current one. I think they switch part numbers around every so often.

The straight piece looks like it might be the doubler for the moveable arm maybe? I don't recognize the other piece at all, so that doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned. :)

When using to bend square tubing the die need a center ridge to deform the center of the inside face of the tube or it will wrinkle not bend smoothly
