Here is a light fixture I made for my mother in-law.
Hope someone can use it.
I am still have trouble gluing the mica in place.
Does anyone have an idea on what to use?
thanks ken

Re: Time to share
Hi Ken,
Try using 1part polyurethane adhesive. It will stick any clean surfaces together forever. You can get it at the big box stores, just make sure it polyurethane. I use it for all my assemblies, way better than silicone. Hope this helps, Dave

Re: Time to share - Driveway Light
I assume you get Sika products over there, I use Sikaflex 252 urethane adhesive for most things, I have even used it to bond screws for standoffs. The thing I prefer about it to 3M VHB tape is that you can play around with positioning to get everything true and just leave it to set overnight, especially with a line of text.
BTW nice lights too, I'd make some for my mother inlaw too but I haven't yet found an image evil enough

Re: Time to share - Driveway Light
I have had a hard time finding mica as well so I been lightly sandblasting some plexiglass. and put the blasted side in. attaching it with 3M automotive trim tape, seems to work well with 40 watts , you need to increase your ventilation for higher watt bulbs

Re: Time to share - Driveway Light
Built something similar, used LEDs to light it, plugs in straight to the battery box, and used a tube as a center support. Use it for the tongue jack support on my camper. Helps stabilize the camper some, and makes it a little easier to setup

Re: Time to share - Driveway Light
Thanks for Sharing! I would like to try and incorporate your design into a solar garden stake. Has anyone tried this and if so, does anyone know where to get a supply of the light kits? I have been doing some exhaustive searches and can't find anything but manufactured full garden lights.
Also, how did you mount your light? Did you add it to an existing light source?

Check out the advance auto or auto zone in your area. They have a pretty good selection of 12 vdc led light kits.tsmart11@gmail.com wrote:Thanks for Sharing! Re: Time to share
Exactly what I was thinking, except the 3M brand tape I found is super thin and would probably work perfectly for this kind of thing. I got a good deal on this tape on ebay. I used it to attach my gear racks to my tableChopper John wrote:I use alot of 3M VHB Tape or Killer Red.....just do a google search for info on them.
