Re: FIRE RINGS - TIME TO SHARE
I use 3/16" Mild Steel for the fire rings.
Here is a pic of the final product of them rings and others I did for a fund raising benefit.
If you can't guess I live somewhere bordering Iowa and Wisconsin......lol

Re: FIRE RINGS - TIME TO SHARE
Thanks for the post. I actually made some last weekend. Mine are 2 pieces. I used 16 and they are quite labor intensive to get them to connect with a good circle shape.

Re: FIRE RINGS - TIME TO SHARE
I can't open these files for some reason, my CAD software says "Binary DXF files are not supported, Please Re-save DXF file as R12 Compatible". Any one care to convert these over to a more current DXF? Thanks!

The files say they are ACAD 15, would ACAD 14 or 2000 work for you?Cotton wrote:I can't open these files for some reason, my CAD software says "Binary DXF files are not supported, Please Re-save DXF file as R12 Compatible". Any one care to convert these over to a more current DXF? Thanks!

Re: FIRE RINGS - TIME TO SHARE
That is the only format I could use to slim the file size down below 1Mb so I could post them......
Download Draftsight for free.........it's what I used.......besides it is just like AutoCad but FREEEEEEEEEEEEE

Re: FIRE RINGS - TIME TO SHARE
it is a binary formatted dxf,Cotton wrote:..., my CAD software says "Binary DXF files are not supported,...
if you open it in a text editor you can't read it like most dxf files,
and the file size is way smaller than a ascii (text) formatted dxf would be
any dxf file can be formatted as binary or ascii, irrespective of the dxf version
ascii format is way more common and widely supported,
zipping an ascii file comes out smaller than binary, zipping a binary makes it even smaller
here are the file sizes for ascii and binary before and after zipping

Re: FIRE RINGS - TIME TO SHARE
I can get the cowboys file to open but not the elk ring or deer elk moose ring. Not sure why?
Not to worry, I downloaded Draftsight and I was able to save it in an older format (which is what my plasma cam is) and it works! Wawhooo! Thanks, foosgod.

Re: FIRE RINGS - TIME TO SHARE
Hello Everyone,
These fire pits are great. I have been looking for a slip roller and wondered if anyone had some suggestions on one that may work to roll a firepit or cylinders. I would like something that isn't crazy expensive but I don't want to buy one that i'd have to upgrade in the near future.
Any suggestions.
