Grinder Stand
Here is a simple grinder rack I cut out, I am trying to get it so I don't have every tool laying all over the shop. I need to pull it back down tomorrow and either paint it or powder coat it.

I hope you don't mind I cleaned the file up a bit, there should be 29 objects, the software I was using was showing 240 some objects.
This is a great idea!

This is awesome! Thanks for posting it. I am new to the business and was wondering... Is it possible to ever have "too many" grinders?!

Re: Grinder Stand
You can never have too many grinders, we try to keep 4 per table/station at our shop. It just makes it a whole easier, because you don't have to mess with changing out wire wheels, sanding disk, flap disk, and rocks. Just grab the one you need for that job. I keep 6 and a spare at my station, One with a hard rock, one with a grinding wheel for AL, a wire wheel, a cup brush, a 40grit flap wheel, and a 120grit flap wheelCharlene wrote:This is awesome! Hey MetalMastersInc
Where do you find the 120 grit flap wheel? All I have found is the 80 grit.

Thanks for posting this. I have 18 students a block that seem to forget everyday where to put the grinders. This will be a nice lab improvement. Plus, I was able to use it to show the students there is more than just creating signs with the plasma cutter. Thanks again.

If you are close to pheonix, check these guys out It's like a home depot for real men. Ours has 120 and many others too. Lots of abrasives! I was at ours twice today, first to get a 7/16-20 tap and second for a 35 pitch master chain link. Picked up some quenching oil and kool-cut 77 while I was there too.

We have one in Ontario, CA. It is 3.2 miles from our shop, way too close. It opened about 4 years ago. We used to have to drive about 10 miles into Corona to get a fix.

Re: Grinder Stand
And for those folks that live where they can't find 120 grit flappers there is always MSC.
mscdirect.com If you need something and these folks don't have it you probably didn't need it anyway .

I get my 120s from Machine & Welding or DIllon Supply. MSC, Grainger, Fastenal, or any big industrial supply store or website should have them. I prefer the Premier, Pffrd, and the new Ovation Attackers are pretty good. If you go with Ovations just make sure to get the blue ones. The red disk they have are complete trash, they have a layer of nylon in them and when you start getting close to the halfway point of the pad they start streaking your metal with black lines. It really sucks when your working on SS and you start getting black streaks of melted nylon on your part.

I will not need to look for anything for about 3 to 4 weeks, I am going into the hospital on Friday for shoulder surgery on my right side, and yes I am right handed Will be out of commission with the grinder and I will have to learn how to become left handed. Look out wild grinder and I don't want to end up like Travis (Going Custom) and get it in the face.

Rockrunner,
How did you get the nice rounded bend in your grinder stand? I cut one out yesterday, just have to clean and bend it up.
Thanks so much, Tim
