Hello everyone,
I have a friend whose son-in-law was just accepted into the army's Delta Force. He would like me to make a plaque with that emblem on it for him. I've been a cnc programmer for 20+ years, but taking a picture and making code out of it is new to me. We just bought a plasma table and I'm not familiar with that software yet. So, does someone have this in .dxf that they would contribute? Or walk me through the conversion?

Very cool, Thanks alot!
We have a Samson table with PlasmaCam operating system. I played with importing in a bitmap today. I ended up with something that looked like a 1st grader drew, at best. I think that if I started out with a high resolution photo, I might have better luck.
thanks

Is the vector software expensive? Does it operate easily? Is it the best way to go? Plasma cams software opens images like a echa sketch. Thanks for all the advice.

I like inkscape. It is free and there are tutorials on youtube. Give it a shot you will probably like it. I have a plasmacam and use it in an industrial environment mostly.
The artsy stuff is for fun. Not a lot of time for it lately.
Just on old manual machinist. Used to do jigs and fixtures for cnc machines. F-16, F-18, Maverick missles, Blackhawk helicopters and the like.

Loyd,
I was on the other end of the spectrum. I programed the cncs that the toolmakers made jigs for. Now I work in a nuke plant maintenance shop. Alot of high end software here, but it doesn't lend itself to "art" very well. Years of making absolutely straight lines and perfect circle makes art an extreme challenge. But I do like it.
Thanks to all
