Collapsible fire pit

Post by bwv1993 »

Would someone have a design they would like to share for a collapsible fire pit like the one in the picture? Doesn't need the stars. I'll put my own design in.

Thanks!

Jhonea, try using convertio. Most of the time it it does a pretty good job but be sure to look for rogue lines and such.

Any ideas on steel thickness? I am thinking 1/4" judging from slots size for support plate.

My thoughts exactly! Slots are .45 and .5, so 1/4" would slide in and then slant as the picture shows.

Note that there is a different in the file the OP posted and the file provided. The assembly is different based on the way the top corner tabs are cut into the siders. The Picture in the original post had sides that were, essentially, either male or female so you needed 2 of each and they would slide into the corresponding slots on the opposite piece. The files attached above have a male and a female side on each panel so that when assembled you have to be able to left the last corner to get e everything to fit together. Just like folding down a 4 sided box top. Having dedicated male or female panels makes assembly and disassembly easier since you don't have to slightly remove the first panel to engage with the 4th.

has anyone cut the dxf that were posted here? Wondering how it worked before I blow a sheet on it. Looking to make one a bit bigger (this one size on top is 32" and only 10" tall. Want to make one closer to 4 feet and 14" tall or so, not sure if its worth to modify this or start from scratch
